Additionally, the ability to conveniently book tickets within the same application is lacking, making the moviegoing experience fragmented and cumbersome. Recognising this gap in the market, there is a clear opportunity to develop an intuitive and user-friendly cinema application that combines all these functionalities into a single platform, making it effortless for users to discover movies, explore showtimes, and conveniently book tickets with ease.
Research
Through user research conducted with local cinema owners, it became evident that having up-to-date information about the films currently showing was of utmost importance. Rather than replicating the comprehensive features of platforms like IMDb, our focus was on providing accurate showtimes and highlighting trending films.
Furthermore, the research revealed a pain point for independent cinemas: their limited budgets prevented them from creating visually appealing applications and websites, which in turn deterred potential customers who preferred the polished interfaces of larger companies like Cineworld and Showcase. By offering these local cinemas a well-designed application, we aim to enhance their reach and competitiveness in the cinema industry, allowing them to compete with the big players in the market.
